The Last Task

So this week's creative thinking class, as written in the title, is the last one. 12 weeks has passed and it has been too much fun yet many many things to learn from. Because this Monday was a public holiday, our class was held on the computer lab on the different day. And for our last assignment, my very easy going teacher, Ms. Tan, told us to design a wristwatch for one of our classmate friend without telling him/her, based on her/his liking, personality and taste. So I made one for my very best friend and the one who always sit besides me in every class, Nickless. She's from Malaysia and she's taking 3DD, and I know that her favourite colour is brown and her taste is not a very complicated one but a beautiful one. And for the next 2 hours, I completed only the overall part, but I'm quite happy for my design because it shows her self a lot in the watch.

So since I can't post my looottsss of my other classmates' work, this is all that I can upload.

So since this is my last post for this creative thinking class, I would thank Ms.Tan for being a very fun teacher to hang out with, and for being very patient with us, for being very noisy at class also. I do enjoy this class very much, and I feel this class is a very stress relieving since there are so many assignments to do with other class.

During this 12 weeks, I realised and I learn so many things that I actually started to change my perspective little by little into a more creative way of think in every thing that I see and applied it to my other subject assignments. Although time sure flies fast, everything I learn would be not a waste, and I feel that this subject also brings our classmates together as friends and families.

Design a Package

So our next project, related to the previous one, is.. design our own packaging! We went outside the school and we ran into various shops. My team ran to Cheers, 7eleven, Guardian, Korean supermarket, and we found some things, which is on the previous post. We are told to buy one product, and after listing some flaws on our bought products, we should design and make the packaging that should be more suitable for the product. After like 1-1,5 hours of making, well, not to mention that I'm not really satisfied with the result, but it is actually quite good.

          

So yeah, my team had to redesign a nail polish remover, which we previously found the packaging has many flaws. Because the previous one looks like a kitchen cleaner bottle and looks very not appealing, we decided to make a stand out feminine packaging to attract consumers. Because of the time factor, the packaging actually not quite finish, but well it delivers the main message and purpose that we were trying to say.

      

So after finish, we supposed to present our product briefly for our class, and we gather every team's packaging.

So basically this activity is meant to solve a problem in creative way. I'm quite disappointed in myself that I didn't do creative enough and it's hard to sync my fellow team members opinion into a product. I learn from this project that every problem can be solve in a very beautiful yet interesting way, even though the outer look is not very astonishing, it solves the problem yet it makes everything more exciting. I will learn more and since I'm a DM student, I will improve my advertising and packaging designs more. This project makes me realise and makes me eager to see more of the design in everything I buy and everything I see in stores or even in my home.

FAILING Packaging

So this time, our class, once again, doing an outdoor research! Ms. Tan gave us a task to search for packagings with fails and flaws. Well sounds easy. After seeing a few slides of example from Ms. Tan, my team off to go, searching to the nearest stores and supermarkets.

After searching in 3 stores, we've just realised that it is actually very hard to found one. We ran to other teams and they all also having difficulties on finding one. Yeah we won't give up easily so we teamed up and search on other stores. And here are some very few of the ones we found;

Well I guess that's it. After a very tiring eye seeing things, we decided to go back, of course after buying 1 product less than 5 dollars as instructed. At least we found some, even though it's very silly. And after arriving, Ms. Tan ask us to write 10 flaws of the packaging of the product we bought. So after a hard thinking, well we managed to, pushing things over a bit. 

Finish listing them, we supposed to give the product to other team, and we have to take one from other team as well, to make the redesign of their packaging. Well.. hard task, but it is a challenge for me, especially because it is a team task. I have to learn to work together and work fast, and well, one of my weakness, I have to go over of my OCD personality :( Somehow I can't stand seeing things unperfect. So hard but I will try.

My Past, My works

Hi again! So this might be the last few entries that I will post for this creative thinking class. Well, different than usual of talking about school activities and class, today I will let you see some of my very past works, until my very current assignment works. In short, this is a very very brief of my drawing journey.

So we will start with.. 

I can't believe I actually upload these drawings TT.TT

So those were..  my drawing, around 2005-2007, which means I was an elementary student back then. Still like 3rd grader to 6th grader. Well I do love drawing from I was very young, and I started to develop my own kind style of drawing since I was 6-7 y.o. My teacher would ask me what I wanted to be in the future, and I will always answer "painter", because that time I only now that drawing is the only thing that a painter does.

Well now I'm shy to see my own works..

         

You can see this, after a few years, my drawing style become like a more fantasy thing. Hairstyles are mostly similar, and it is more anime like as time goes. I was in junior high, and I started to dream bigger, to become fashion designer or.. whoever that design things.

After finally my parent gave me a pen tablet, I started to learn to draw with it. It was on my junior high school, and I will draw anime kind of drawing most of the time. I'm not really good at colouring and the techniques because I never have a course and that time internet is a thing that I can't use and enjoy with because of the condition that time. So everything basically, based on my nature, I love to try things. New one. Because of that, I was able to join some competition in various subjects.

Entering Senior high school, I began to be more serious than ever for my art future. My friend and my teacher also think of my hobby more seriously, and they always ask me to draw if there was any small or even large scale project for class or even the school. I began to very active at journalism competition, doing layouts, colouring, or even writing. And during my second year, they gave me the crown of the head of my school's journalism team.

           

My hobby of drawing became bigger and bigger, and I will draw and draw whenever I want, even when I took an exam and tests. I will draw like every single paper that I have in my textbooks, well, it's a bad habit. I will make any subject notes into a drawing, or even a story. I was so crazy.

The momentum is going and one day I heard from someone that there was a competition that I can enter internationally. I make them very last minute, like few hours before the closing upload hour, and I just don't hope too much. Well a month later they said I'm winning. This what makes me so sure of taking art, whether it's illustration, animation, or graphic design.

So that is how I finally choose a path of being a graphic designer. It has been a lot of week i've been through here at NAFA and I'm not regretting my decision of taking art as my career. Some people told me to take music rather than design, some also told me to take even mathematics. But well, I will still follow my heart. I won't give up.

It's friday it's FUNDAYYYYY

Different than usual, this time I'm hanging out with my roommates and their friend! Didn't mean to betray or leaving my classmates behind, but because I was going to the place with them, I might as well having fun with them too. But I also having fun with my classmates as I run to them and have a quick chat and quick selfie too lol. But hey, even though it's very very extremely hot there, we have so much fun. I'm not a very good photographer, but I love to take photos. So here are some;

Unfortunately, because my roommate got a sun stroke, we have to left earlier after playing games at all the game stalls. I got so many prizes because surprisingly I'm very good at throwing things. But that was very fun! I saw some of my teachers also, from the drawing fundamental, Mr. Chng and from IVA, Mr. Chua, also from 3D fundamental, Mr. NK Tan. So nice to see them in very different clothing's from the school. I'm looking forward to join the next year's fun day!
